Tabernacle

THE TABERNACLE IN THE BOOK OF EXODUS
Layout By Jeremias Antonetty

1. GOD GAVE A PATTERN FOR HIS TABERNACLE
There are three theories pertaining to the actual pattern that God gave to Moses in building the tabernacle in the wilderness.

The Hebrew word for pattern in the Scriptures pertaining to the tabernacle has been properly translated in other versions of the Bible. For example, the King James Version translates the word pattern; fashion. So does the American Standard Version And so does the new King James version. The new International version translates the word pattern; plan.

A. Many Jewish scholars believe that God actually showed Moses an actual material structure of the tabernacle of heaven, which is by far a more glorious one. And in seeing it the actual measurements of the tabernacle was given to him in specific detail.

B. Some recent Christian writers believe that, an actual presentation of the earthly tabernacle was shown to Moses as to the specific pattern and measurements of the tabernacle. This would also include all of the furnishings and utensils involved in the service of the tabernacle.

C. The third and last theory of how the tabernacle was actually put together is probably the most likely to be taken. There are those who believe that God gave Moses the pattern of the tabernacle in a vision. This stands to reason much more than the first two theories because God gave Ezekiel a vision of the new temple in Jerusalem with its full measurements. This would seem to be the most reasonable assumption pertaining to the tabernacle of God. Let us look at some Scripture pertaining to the pattern given to Moses for the tabernacle.

Exod 25:9
“According to all that I show you, that is, the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furnishings, just so you shall make it.

Exod 26:30
“And you shall raise up the tabernacle according to its pattern which you were shown on the mountain.

Exod 39:32
Thus all the work of the tabernacle of the tent of meeting was finished. And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD had commanded Moses; so they did.

Exod 39:42-43
According to all that the LORD had commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did all the work.

43 Then Moses looked over all the work, and indeed they had done it; as the LORD had commanded, just so they had done it. And Moses blessed them.
Acts 7:44
Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as He appointed, instructing Moses to make it according to the pattern that he had seen,

Heb 8:5

A. They were not able to enter into service without putting on the proper garments which God had instructed Moses to make for them. Failure to have these garments on, would result in the death of them.

31. THE TABERNACLE AND ALL ITS FURNISHINGS WERE MADE BY PEOPLE WHO GOD ANOINTED AND GAVE WISDOM TO DO THE WORK
We must take notice that the Lord first calls a person by name to give that person a personal invitation to come unto Him.
